The Specialist assists the Director in complaint investigations related to issues arising under Title VI, VII, VIII, IX., and the university nondiscrimination policy. The Specialist investigates allegations of discrimination and/or sexual harassment based upon protected class status, and allegations of hate and bias as appropriate. The position researches relevant regulations and policies and conducts related training and programming within Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions. The individual meets one on one with students and employees and assists with requests pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and reviews requests for religious accommodations. The Specialistsmaintains a database system for organizing, managing, and tracking EO/TIX cases.


Required Qualifications


Bachelor\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Degree and two years related experience or Master\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Degree and one year of related experience. Related Experience: professional experience in investigations, human resources, human relations, student conduct, or a related field; and experience in equal opportunity, Title IX, interpersonal violence, federal or state compliance, or experience with federal and state laws and regulations related to diversity and equity, including but not limited to Title IX, Title VII, and VAWA; legal research and writing, or report writing experience; public speaking; experience working with diverse populations.

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Senior Specialist, Equal Opportunity.


R0109029 Senior Specialist, Equal Opportunity


The Senior Specialist handles highly complex complaints, negotiating multifaceted, extremely sensitive cases working collaboratively and professionally across multiple constituencies. The Senior Specialist conductsinvestigations of allegations of discrimination covered under various laws, completing trauma-sensitive investigations andreviewing and evaluating reports from multiple sources. The incumbent chairs the Accommodation Committees to review and determine accommodation requests and generates periodic reports for the University, NSHE, and external agencies. The Senior Specialist serves as a subject matter expert on issues related to ADA and religious accommodations, tracking state and federal requirements in these areas and providing periodic updates and trainings to the campus community.


Required Qualifications


Bachelor\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Degree andfour years or Master\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Degree or J.D. andtwo years of related experience.
