The Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech University seeks candidates for a 10-month, fixed term, non-tenure track, position with expertise in Structural Geology beginning August 2024.

Major/Essential Functions
The Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech University seeks candidates for a 10-month, fixed term, non-tenure track, position with expertise in Structural Geology beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor and contribute to maintaining the universitys mission through teaching and supporting student success.

The successful candidate will teach a minimum of 4 courses (2 in the Fall and 2 in the Spring semester) including Structural Geology, which includes a 4-day field-trip (Fall semester), Introductory Physical Geology, will coordinate a Sedimentary Field Methods course (Spring semester), and the fourth course may be in their area of expertise that will serve majors and minors in the Geology degree program, which includes a concentration in Geophysics.

Required Qualifications
  1. Completion (by the time of the appointment) of the requirements to be awarded a PhD in Geology or a related field.
  2. A record of teaching experience as a Graduate Part-Time Instructor or Graduate Teaching Assistant.
  3. Subject knowledge necessary to teach undergraduate courses in Structural Geology, Introductory courses in Physical Geology, and Field Methods for Geoscientists.


Preferred Qualifications
  1. Certification or similar evidence of professional development and commitment to excellence in teaching.
  2. Service to the Department of Geosciences, College of Arts & Science, Texas Tech University, and the successful candidates professional community.
